“A combined effort by educators Joanne Coons and Donna Lynch and their students has led State Farm Insurance to award a grant of $77,000 to Shenendehowa High School in order to implement a composting program. The money will be used to purchase Earth Tub composters that take solid waste from the cafeterias and use it to create nutrient-rich soil that can be used in the growing of a produce supply. The check will be awarded on Monday, February 22nd at a presentation during the school’s eighth and ninth periods.”–from the Shenvironment website

Dear Shenvironment Team,
Great website and a wonderful presentation today during 8th-9th period. Cornell Cooperative Extension is sending me a slew of information and Mark Walford called me today (I missed his call) and he is a principal at Bethlehem and is the guru of school gardening in this area. He offered to help set a successful program up. I am really impressed by your commitment to this project. See you all tomorrow night at the BOE meeting.
